National Center for Research and Development to support a digital platform for the design and development of molecular diagnostic tests

28.04.2021

The companies QSAR Lab and NanoExpo and the Institute of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine received over PLN 5.6 million from the National Center for Research and Development to create a digital platform enabling the design and development of molecular diagnostic tests for known and emerging diseases – such as COVID-19.

The rapid development of diagnostic tests can help manage an outbreak and mitigate its consequences. The key to their development is to find proteins that will bind to pathogens specific for a given disease.

The project aims to create software based on machine learning and artificial intelligence methods which help select such receptor-ligand pairs, characterized by high affinity and matching. The software will be useful in the diagnosis of viral and bacterial pathogens and in the diagnosis of cancer, neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases.
