National Science Center has signed the DORA declaration

25.10.2018

Director of the National Science Center Prof. Zbigniew Błocki has signed the DORA declaration (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment) regarding the method of evaluating the quality of scientific research by entities financing science, journals and scientific units.

The basic postulate formulated in the declaration is to assess the quality of researchers’ work on the basis of substantive and not quantitative criteria. In the opinion of the signatories the researchers should be assessed primarily by the originality of their achievements and the impact on the development, and not only with the use of bibliometric indicators.

The San Francisco Declaration was formulated in December 2012. At present, 667 organizations and over 13,000 people from all over the world signed the declaration. The Foundation for Polish Science is one of the signatories.
