National Science Center holds OPUS 21 and PRELUDIUM 20 competitions

30.11.2021

Polish scientists will receive more than 900 grants for research in humanities, social sciences and arts, science and technology, and life sciences in the competitions of the National Science Center (NCN). There have not been so many laureates in the OPUS and PRELUDIUM programs for several years.

-Awarding more grants was possible through a significant increase in the funding of the National Science Center by the Ministry of Education and Science. The level of applications is always excellent and we very often regret the fact that we have to reject projects that, in our opinion, and above all in the opinion of our mainly international experts should be financed – said Prof. Zbigniew Błocki, director of the National Science Center. The OPUS 21 competition will finance projects for a total amount of almost PLN 559 million, and in PRELUDIUM 20 for 77 million.

2,314 applications were submitted and 417 projects will be financed under OPUS call, in PRELUDIUM call – 495 projects of 2,217 applications were accepted.
