National Science Center to launch international ALPHORN – COVID-19 competition

The National Science Center (NCN) is organizing the international competition ALPHORN – COVID-19 for Polish-Swiss research projects devoted to research on COVID-19. The competition is organized in cooperation with the Swiss agency Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

The ALPHORN-COVID-19 competition will finance high-quality, innovative research projects dedicated to research into COVID-19, implemented jointly by research teams from Poland and Switzerland (projects in bilateral cooperation) and by Polish-Swiss research teams, with the participation of research teams from one of the following countries: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Luxembourg, South Tyrol (projects in trilateral cooperation).

PLN 4 million has been allocated to finance Polish research. As part of the competition, scientists can receive funds for remuneration for their research team, scholarships for students or doctoral students, purchase or production of research equipment and cover other costs necessary to carry out the research. The head of the Polish research team must have at least a doctoral title. The project implementation period is 24 months.
