108 researchers from research centers throughout Poland will start preliminary and pilot studies, queries, research internships and consultation trips thanks to funding from the National Science Center (NCN) under the MINIATURE 5 competition. The NCN will allocate almost PLN 4 million for these projects.
The activities eligible for funding include projects related to history and cultural heritage. Dr Zofia Kaczmarek from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań will analyze attire as an expression of disagreement and protest in Rome during the periods of the Republic and the Principate, and Dr Eng. Karol Król from the University of Agriculture in Krakow will focus on the digital cultural heritage of rural areas.
There is also research on contemporary issues that affect human life and health. The effect of aerosol emitted by alternative nicotine delivery systems (electronic cigarettes, IQOS) on the functions of human monocytes will be investigated by Dr Piotr Szoka at the Medical University of Bialystok.
