Chemists from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń have developed a composition for a cream designed for people after melanoma treatment whose skin needs to be moisturised and elastic. The cosmetic, which will be available for sale in a few weeks, is already winning awards at industry events.

The idea to produce a specialised cream was brought about by accident. Dr Beata Kaczmarek-Szczepańska from the Department of Biomaterials and Cosmetics Chemistry conducted research into natural compounds with anti-cancer effects. In the course of this research, she found a compound that, in a certain concentration, inhibits the growth of melanoma.

As proven by the research, the compound contained in the product inhibits the growth of melanoma. Therefore, people with excised skin lesions and those with a genetic burden of melanoma may be interested in the emulsion. Customers are also sure to include patients after radio and chemotherapy, which make the skin very sensitive, delicate and dry.
