Students of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin receive prestigious American scholarships

Two female students of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin have qualified for the BioLab Programme for a one-year research internship as part of a Fullbright Scholarship in the United States.

Maja Pękała will participate in the project ‘Structural and molecular basis of amyloid aggregation to develop therapeutic and diagnostic tools’, led by Dr Lorena Saelices at the Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases & Department of Biophysics University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. 

Ania Wegrzycka was qualified to participate in the Aging and Matabolism Research Program project, led by Dr Scott M. Plafker at Cell Biology and Ophthalmology – OUHSC Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City.

Research results from the internship often form the basis of articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals such as “Nature”, “Proteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics” and “Acta Crystallographica.”
