Tomasz Różycki, an employee of the Institute of Literary Studies at the University of Opole, has been awarded the international Grand Continent Prize 2023. He was awarded for his novel ‘The Light Bulb Thieves’.

“The Grand Continent Prize is the most generous European literary award for funding the translation and dissemination of texts. With a grant of €100,000, a great European novel is supported every year”, write the competition organisers.

The competition aims to identify the most outstanding book published in a given period of time worthy of the title of great European novel, which will interest readers from all over Europe, in each of the five language areas: French, Spanish, German, Polish and Italian. Each nomination for the prize is supported by a translation of excerpts of the work into French and a critical argumentation.
