Kamila Rydzewska, a PhD student from the Department of Clinical and Molecular Biochemistry of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, became a laureate of the BioLAB program. The researcher will do an internship at the University of Virginia, in a public health facility, where she will deal with biostatistics and research of lung diseases in the US.

The BioLAB program is intended for students of master’s and doctoral studies in biology, chemistry and medicine. During the internship, students join research teams conducting projects in such fields as neurology, crystallography, virology and molecular genetics.

The results of research conducted during the internship often become the basis of articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as “Nature”, “Proteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics” and “Acta Crystallographica.” Scholarship holders also take an active part in the life of the university, participate in seminars, guest lectures and courses about American culture.
