PhD student of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń receives the Prof. Jerzy Perzanowski Award

Olgierd Borowiecki, a cognitive science graduate and doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, received the Prof. Jerzy Perzanowski Award in a competition organized by the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the Polish Cognitive Society. 

He received the award for his MA thesis “Memory ‘that’ and memory ‘how’ – how are they interrelated? Neurobiological, computational, psychological, and philosophical perspectives”. The work deals with the topic of memory that takes many forms and can be a bridge connecting individual disciplines of cognitive science, which consists of combining the perspectives of individual fields in search of a deeper understanding of the mechanisms governing learning about reality.

The subject of the awarded dissertation reflects the interests of the doctoral student, which he developed during his internships at the University of Helsinki, Sapienza University and University College of London.
