PhD student of the University of Humanities and Natural Sciences, wins the L’Oréal-UNESCO program

Marika Turek, PhD student at the Jan Długosz University of Humanities and Sciences  in Częstochowa, received a doctoral scholarship from the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women and Science program. She was awarded for the project “To win the fight against hypertension and COVID-19: Co-crystallization and co-amorphization of angiotensin II receptor antagonists leading to more soluble compounds with bifunctional action”. 

The antihypertensive drugs that are the subject of the project are currently undergoing a great deal of clinical trials around the world and may prove helpful in the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection.

The aim of the L’Oréal-UNESCO program from the beginning is to promote the scientific achievements of talented women researchers, encouraging them to continue their work aimed at the development of science through financial support in the form of a scholarship. The partners of the program are the Polish UNESCO Committee, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
