Opole University of Technology to launch Laboratory of simulation and research on ankle sprains

23.04.2021

The only one in Europe and the second in the world laboratory for simulation and research on ankle sprains begins its activity at the Opole University of Technology. Scientists on a specially designed treadmill will research the pathomechanisms of chronic instability of the ankle joint.

Scientists will analyze the pathomechanisms of chronic instability in the ankle joint. In the laboratory, they will use the most modern equipment – incl. electromyography, which records muscle activity, and electrogoniometers, which allow to assess how the joint is behaving at a particular moment.

Vibroartrographic examination will also be used to assess the quality of movement in the joint and super-fast cameras that record every minimal change in the time of movement. All this will give the scientists of the Opole University of Technology a comprehensive picture of the patient’s ankle.
