Dr Eng. Aleksandra Dunisławska of the department of animal husbandry and biology at the University of Technology and Industry in Bydgoszcz was among the 25 winners of the Prime Minister’s Award in 2020. She was awarded in the doctoral dissertation category.

The dissertation entitled “Modification of the transcriptome of broiler chickens using in ovo technology” is a series of three scientific publications. The issues discussed in her work have great importance for poultry production in the context of obtaining food with nutritional and pro-health values.

The laureate draws attention to the need to systematically limit the use of veterinary drugs and look for alternative solutions. The intestinal microbiota, which can be modified by administering bioactive substances such as synbiotics, probiotics or prebiotics, plays a key role in keeping broiler chickens in good health, as well as in improving production parameters.
