PhD students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology are the best in programming a swarm of autonomous drones

01.10.2019

Radosław Grymin and Piotr Semberecki, PhD students of the Wrocław University of  Science and Technology, won the programming competition of the autonomous drone swarm at the Czech Technical University in Prague as part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS) summer school.

The competition was improving the trajectory planning algorithm for two autonomous drones whose task was to inspect the given areas. Wroclaw PhD students defeated teams from the German Space Agency, Cornell University (USA) and Oxford University (United Kingdom).

IEEE RAS is an international association of electricians and electronics specialists, who deals with the development of automation and robotics. It operates in 65 countries with over 15,000 people. It organizes summer schools on multi-robot systems collecting the most innovative approaches to solving problems related to controlling the so-called swarm of robots.
