The Historical Research Office of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) in Warsaw is inviting participants to the nationwide scientific conference “Bishops in the political reality of ” People’s Poland” part III, which will be held on 21-22 February 2023 at the Janusz Kurtyka Central History Station in Warsaw.

The aim of the conference, carried out as part of the IPN Central Research Project ‘Communist Authorities against Churches and Religious Associations 1944-1989’, is to present the situation of the bishops in the political reality of ‘people’s’ Poland. The aim is not only to present the views of church hierarchs on the situation in post-war Poland, but also to discuss how the clergy, the faithful and the communist authorities evaluated the views and attitude of a given bishop.

The session is a continuation of a series of conferences with the same title held in 2018 and 2020.
