Polish Academy of Sciences to support the combat against coronavirus

The institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) are joining the combat against the COVID-19 pandemic. For last several days, researchers have been testing for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus with a prototype of a new test.

The PAN institutes started also a production of the Ventil apparatus, developed by the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.

The Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences offered surgical masks, latex and nitrile gloves, non-woven aprons, shoe and cap protectors to the University Hospital and the Specialist Hospital in Krakow.

The institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences also provide their specialized equipment, and their scientists and PhD students carry out tests for the presence of coronavirus, supporting Polish Sanepid. Such actions were taken also by the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław, the Institute of Medical Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, which also prepared an original test for the presence of coronavirus.
