17.06.2020

From June 12, scientific data can be transferred between the DESY research center in Hamburg and the National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Świerk at a speed of 100 Gb / s thanks to the fast internet connection.

The ceremony of launching a fast internet connection between the DESY research center in Hamburg and the National Center for Nuclear Research in Świerk was attended by Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Grzegorz Wrochna and Secretary of State in the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research Wolf-Dieter Lukas.

Thanks to a direct connection, the Świerk IT Center belonging to NCBJ will be able to become a center for collecting and processing data obtained in European XFEL experiments, similar to the DESY research center.

European XFEL (European X-ray Free Electron Laser) is the most powerful X-ray free electron laser in the world. The laser infrastructure is 3.5 km long. The laser is intended for scientific and development research.
