07.04.2021

The Polish Astronomical Society (PTA) and the Astronomical Observatory of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow have published the study “Polish Astronomical Centers”, which presents scientific institutions involved in space research, and additionally contains lists of educational and popularization activities.

The guide is 72 pages long and is a collective work. Information about a given center was prepared by people working for it. It presents all scientific institutions involved in astronomical and related research in Poland. It also presents places where undergraduate and graduate students can study astronomy at regular and doctoral schools.

The study is aimed at presenting research centers, but also contains a few additional pages devoted to other aspects of astronomy – educational institutions, popularizing astronomy, as well as trade media. They are enriched by several maps with the distribution of astronomical observatories, the largest telescopes and Polish research infrastructure located abroad.
