Scientists of the Polish Academy of Sciences receive scholarships from the Kościuszko Foundation

Three researchers of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) received scholarships from the Kościuszko Foundation for research trips to research institutions in the USA. They will go on trips in the academic year 2021/2022.

Aleksandra Splitt, a PhD student at the Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences, will receive funding for a three-month stay at the University of California, Davise to realise her project – “On bees’ trail in the urban jungle”, which will broaden knowledge about the impact of urbanization on wild bee populations.

Dr Adam Pikul from the Institute of Low Temperature and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences will travel to the National Laboratory in Idaho for three months. There, he will check the thermal properties of selected uranium-based materials that could be considered new generation nuclear fuels.

Dr Agnieszka Dębska from the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences will receive a scholarship for a five-month internship in the group of Prof. James Booth at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her project will investigate the relationship between the areas of the brain responsible for phonological and spelling processing.
