Polish competition “My doctorate in 180 seconds” completed

Julia Łukasiak won the Polish “My doctorate in 180 seconds” competition. The audience award was taken by Aleksandra Burca. Both young researchers carry out their scientific projects at the University of Warsaw (UW).

The participants’ task was to talk about their doctorate in French in just 3 minutes to get the jury and the audience interested. The event’s partner was the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

The international competition is an initiative of the French Institute. Julia Łukasiak won in its Polish part. Her dissertation concerns the perception of the work of Pieter Bruegel the Elder in contemporary Francophone Belgian literature. The laureate received a scholarship from the French government.

The jury awarded the second prize to Aleksandra Burca. She also received the audience award. Her work concerns plant biochemistry, and specifically vine metabolism.
