Polish nanosatellite to study Mars

25.10.2019

Preparation of the Martian nanosatellite mission is the main goal of the consortium, which was created by Polish universities and the companies SatRevolution and Virgin Orbit. The scientific director of the project is prof. Jan Dziuban from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The consortium also includes AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Warsaw University of Technology, Gdańsk, Poznań and Łódź University of Technology, as well as the Catholic University of Lublin and the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław. Researchers at these universities will be responsible for developing scientific solutions, connectivity, software and development of on-board instruments that will be on board nanosatellites.

SatRevolution’s task will be to design and build a nanosatellite between 6 and 12 U (1 U is 1 cubic decimeter) depending on the use of engines. Company Virgin Orbit is responsible for mission planning, taking the load into space and cooperating in mission control and signal transmission.
