Polish scientist studied the DNA of dogs

Mongrels are not hybrids, they are an independent, separate breed of dogs. They are even better, healthier and stronger than dogs raised by humans. Such a conclusion is made by Prof. Wiesław Bogdanowicz from the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, who together with his team conducted dog DNA research.

– Genetically mongrels are the closest to their ancestor – said the professor – newly discovered facts highlight that mongrels are the canine aristocracy.

Purebred dogs, fully dependent on humans, have not developed features to survive and adapt to environmental conditions. The mongrels tower over them; they are stronger, healthier, their immune and reproductive systems work better, they have more sensitive senses, especially smell.

Around a billion dogs live around the world, of which up to three-quarters are mongrels (kp)
