During the ISC High Performance 2020 Digital conference, the latest TOP500 – a list of the fastest supercomputers in the world was announced. Prometheus ACK Cyfronet of the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Krakow was included in the TOP 500 for the 11th time. It took 289th place.
AGH Prometheus, working at ACK Cyfronet, since its launch in 2015, remains the fastest supercomputer in Poland. It has a computing power of 2.65 PFlops (PetaFlops), which was achieved primarily due to the use of efficient servers of the HP Apollo8000 platform and connecting them with a super-fast InfiniBand network with a bandwidth of 56 Gb / s.
To illustrate the speed of Prometheus, in order to match its capabilities, one should use the computing power of over 50,000 top-class personal computers in the most powerful configuration, additionally connected by a super-fast network and managed by special software – says Prof. Kazimierz Wiatr, Director of ACK Cyfronet AGH.
The fastest supercomputer in the world was announced Supercomputer Fugaku from Japan, whose computing power is over 513 PFlops.
