The sciences of politics and administration received the highest-grade A +, 8 disciplines received an A grade in the evaluation of the University of Silesia carried out by the Science Evaluation Committee. The achievements of scientists from the five-year period (2017-2021) were assessed.

Evaluation is an assessment of scientific activity carried out among the majors practiced at the university. For the first time, the subjects of evaluation were not faculties, but scientific majors. Category A was awarded to: literary studies, cultural and religious studies, art studies, legal sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, film and theater arts, and musical arts.

The evaluation was carried out taking into account three criteria, the importance of which varies depending on the field: scientific or artistic level of the conducted activity (publications); financial effects of scientific research and development works (grants, research services, commercialization) and the impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy.
