Poznań University of Life Sciences joins the project Innovative biogas plant

02.11.2021

The University of Life Sciences in Poznań has become a strategic partner of the project “Innovative biogas plant”, implemented by the National Center for Research and Development within European funds from the Intelligent Development Program. The first biogas plant in Poland that produces biomethane and will not emit odors, will be built in Brody in the Lwówek commune.

The main goal of the project is to develop technology and build a biogas plant, characterized by the effective processing of a diverse stream of organic substrates into biogas, and then upgrading it to biomethane.

Thanks to the new technology the new biogas plant will not emit odors harmful to the environment, which should positively affect the public perception of this type of installation and improve the industry’s reputation. The prototype installation will also be self-sufficient in terms of electricity and heat thanks to the use of some of the produced biogas.
