Prize of the Polish Academy of Sciences awarded to a doctoral student at the Medical University of Wrocław

Tomasz Górnicki, a student at the Doctoral School of the Medical University of Wrocław, has won the “Dr Wacław Mayzel Medical Laurel” – honorary prize awarded by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He was awarded for his original research paper ‘Expression of RBMS3 in Breast Cancer Progression’. The publication concerns the role of RBMS3 protein expression in breast cancer, as well as the formation and development of other types of cancer. The laureate is a graduate of VII LO in Wrocław and the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University in Wrocław. His scientific interests are related to tissue engineering and experimental oncology.

The prestigious distinction of the Polish Academy of Sciences is awarded to students working scientifically. The award has a chance to be received by those who have been involved in scientific research even before receiving their diploma and have publications to their credit that are not related to the formal requirements of their studies.
