Jan Biegus, MD, Professor at the Medical University of Wrocław (UMW) from the Institute of Heart Diseases, has become a Fulbright Senior Award Scholar. As part of the scholarship, he will go to one of the best American universities – Duke University in Durham. There, he will conduct a research project on the pathomechanisms leading to conductivity in patients with heart failure.

“This is not only a great honour for me, but also the fulfilment of one of my scientific dreams. I am also convinced that my alma mater – the Medical University of Wrocław – will benefit from my scholarship and that I will be able to use the experience gained at Duke University here”, says the scholarship holder, quoted on the UMW website.

The Fulbright Senior Award is the largest and most prestigious US scientific and cultural exchange programme. In this year’s competition, 16 scholarships were awarded to Polish scientists, and Jan Biegus, MD, is the only representative of medical sciences among them.
