Prof. Joanna Tokarska-Bakir wins the Yad Vashem International Book Prize 2019 competition

Monograph “Under the Curse. Social portrait of the Kielce pogrom “, whose author is Prof. Joanna Tokarska-Bakir from the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) won the prize of the Israeli institute Yad Vashem and the Długosz Award for the best publication in the field of humanities.

The two-volume monograph on the Kielce pogrom took first place in the Yad Vashem International Book Prize 2019 competition. The award ceremony will take place on November 28 in Jerusalem – informs the Institute of Slavic Studies PAS.

At the end of October Prof. Joanna Tokarska-Bakir received the Długosz Award for the best humanities publication published in 2018. The competition accompanied the International Book Fair in Krakow.

The work of prof. Joanna Tokarska-Bakir is also nominated for: Giedroyc Award; Moczarski  Award and the Prize of Józef A. Gierowski and Chony Shmeruk for the best scientific book publication in the field of Jewish history and culture in Poland.
