Professor Andrzej Nowak received the Order of the White Eagle

Professor Andrzej Nowak, who manages the works of the Department of History of Eastern Europe at the Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Department of History of Eastern Europe and Studies on the Empires of the 19th and 20th Century at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, was awarded the Order of the White Eagle.

President Andrzej Duda awarded Prof. Nowak with the highest Polish distinction in recognition of his outstanding merits in disseminating historical knowledge and propagating patriotic values, for achievements in the field of humanities and social sciences, and for popularizing Polish science in the world.

Professor Nowak is a member of the Council of the College of Eastern Europe, as well as the Polish-Russian Historical Commission; The Central European and East European Commission of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. Since 2016, he has been a member of the College of the Institute of National Remembrance.
