Professor Maria Bryszewska of the University of Łódź receives the David Shugar Medal

Prof. Maria Bryszewska, Head of the Department of General Biophysics at the University of Łódź (UŁ), has been awarded the David Shugar Medal by the Polish Biophysical Society. The award was given for Prof. Bryszewska’s outstanding scientific achievements and significant contribution to the development of biophysics in Poland, and in particular for supporting Polish biophysicists in their scientific development. 

According to the Centre for Promotion of the University of Łódź, Prof. Maria Bryszewska’s research interests focus on the biomedical properties of nanoparticles – dendrimers, gold and silver nanoparticles – and the possibility of their use as drug and gene carriers in targeted therapy, i.e. in the area of nanoscience, which is one of the national priorities. 

Prof. Maria Bryszewska was President of the Board of the Polish Biophysical Society from 1992 to 1995.
