Professor Wojciech Polak becomes chairman of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance

Professor Wojciech Polak from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was elected the chairman of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance.

The Council is an advisory and consultative body of the President of the Institute. In particular, it adopts annual activity reports, expresses opinions about the candidates for management positions presented by the president, gives opinions and recommends directions of activity and research programs, approves the rules for recording, storing, developing, securing, sharing and publishing documents.

Professor Polak is a historian. He deals with the latest history of Poland, the history of “Solidarity”, state-church relations in the PRL and Polish-Russian relations. He is the author of 25 books and many articles, an editor of numerous collective works and a publisher of historical sources. He is a head of the Department of Political Conflicts at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Toruń.
