Quantum Pact signed

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski and Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek signed on behalf of the Republic of Poland the Quantum Pact, a document strengthening European cooperation for the development of a world-class quantum technology ecosystem.

The European Declaration on Quantum Technologies (Quantum Pact) is a document developed under the leadership of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which emphasizes the strategic importance of quantum technologies for the EU’s competitiveness in the areas of science and industry, and advocates cooperation for the development of a world-class quantum technology ecosystem in Europe. 

To date, the Quantum Pact has been signed by 18 countries: Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden. Now Poland has joined the group. 

The signatories of the declaration recognize the strategic importance of quantum technologies for the EU’s scientific and industrial competitiveness, and pledge to cooperate in the development of the quantum technology ecosystem across Europe. They set the goal of joint activities as making Europe the “quantum valley” of the world, i.e. the leading region in terms of quantum innovation.
