Report on student loans in 2022

Between 1998 and 2022, banks granted loans to nearly 409,000 students and doctoral students. In 2022, 1,280 such agreements were concluded. According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the loan was available to those whose income per person in the family did not exceed PLN 3,000.

During the 2022 loan action, banks received 1,612 loan applications meeting the income criterion. The banks concluded 1,280 loan agreements with students and doctoral students.

Most applicants (87.3 %) signed a student loan agreement with a monthly tranche of PLN 1,000. A loan of PLN 800 per month was chosen by 8.2 % of borrowers, PLN 600 by 4.1 % of borrowers. The least popular was a loan of PLN 400.

In 2022, PKO Bank Polski S.A. was the bank most frequently chosen by applicants (students and doctoral students), with more than 82.9 % of borrowers signing a preferential student loan agreement with it.

From the 2023/2024 academic year, the income criterion will be PLN 3,500 per person in the family.
