A Research and Development Center for Renewable Energy Sources is being created in Piła. The laboratory will help Piła become a zero-emission and energy self-sufficient city. It will start working this year.

The center will be built in the municipal sewage treatment plant. The project is implemented by the Piła company GWDA together with the State Higher Vocational School in Piła and the Chamber of Commerce of Northern Wielkopolska Region. The laboratory will examine the possibility of using renewable energy sources in the urban economy. The whole project is co-financed from the Wielkopolska Regional Operational Program. The subsidy amounts to 551 thousand PLN, and the entire investment is almost PLN 1 million.

In addition, scientists and experts will develop new, cheaper and more economical solutions in the field of solar and wind energy. Currently, solar panels and an office container have already been launched to carry out researches on new technologies related to renewable energy sources.
