Dr Eng. Wojciech Kamieniecki: Wider opening to innovations is needed

23.08.2019

Implementing the economy of the future in Poland needs even greater openness to innovation and greater courage of entrepreneurs to co-create the entire development support ecosystem – writes Dr Wojciech Kamieniecki, President of the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR).

The President of NCBR is convinced that research and development are an important part of the modern economy. In his opinion, behind the dry numbers the recipe for long-term prosperity is hidden, set on very solid foundations. The conviction about this comes from many studies and analyzes – it’s enough to say that Paul Romer, the 2018 Nobel Prize laureate in economics, received this award for proving that R&D has become a key component of the success of individual economies.

Dr Eng. Kamieniecki believes that Polish business, by using prosperity and available tools, should enhance the investment for research and development, ultimately facing the challenge of Western companies. Otherwise, we will remember the missed opportunities instead of becoming a European economic tiger.
