Professor Edyta Połczyńska from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań received a diploma of recognition “for special merits for Polish-German cooperation” from the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Rolf Wilhelm Nikel.
Professor Połczyńska is a literary scholar, the author of pioneering scientific work on the culture of German in Greater Poland, a few-volume bibliography of translations of German literature into Polish, vice-dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages, director of the Institute of German Philology for many years, tireless and committed organizer of life of the Institute of German Studies, Master and Teacher for generations of Germanists.
The laureate is the promoter of 16 doctoral dissertations in the field of literature and over 200 MA theses, also a lecturer at the universities in Regensburg, Kiel, Hanover and Potsdam. She has been the chairwoman of the Main Committee of the German Language Olympics for many years.
