Dr Piotr Niemcewicz, University Professor from the Faculty of Fine Arts the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, has been awarded the Prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the category of Cultural Heritage Protection.
The prize has been awarded since 1997 to individuals or groups whose activities make a special contribution to the development, dissemination and protection of culture. Prof. Piotr Niemcewicz was among this year’s 21 prize winners awarded in 18 categories.
Dr Piotr Niemcewicz, Professor at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, conservator of works of art with a specialisation in stone sculpture and architectural detail, specialises in the conservation of architectural monuments, stone sculpture and artistic craftsmanship. He is the author of numerous articles, expert opinions, opinions and conservation projects for many valuable historic buildings in Poland, including the cathedral in Gniezno, Poznan and abroad, including the Casbah citadel in Algiers, Polish war graves on Monte Cassino.
