Researcher from the Poznań University of Medical Sciences received a Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship

Dr Marta Szukalska from the Environmental Research Laboratory of the Department of Toxicology at the Poznań University of Medical Sciences has won a Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship to carry out a research project at Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey.

During her three-month stay in the United States, the scholarship holder will conduct research on the role of macrophages and inflammatory mechanisms of lung tissue damage following exposure to electronic cigarettes using an ex vivo model of precision cut lung slices (PCLS). 

The Kosciuszko Foundation promotes Polish-American cooperation through international exchanges in the fields of education, science and culture. The Foundation awards annual travel and residency scholarships and grants to Poles for study, research and/or teaching at universities or other institutions of higher learning in the United States.
