Prof.  Jarosław Ławski, dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Białystok (UB), was elected a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The decision was made by the general meeting of the organization. 

Prof. Ławski is a literary scholar, essayist, and literary critic. His research interests include Polish-Eastern European cultural ties, relations of geopolitics and literature.

He heads the Department of Philological Research “East-West”, which together with Ukrainian partners organized series of conferences “Odessa and the Black Sea. Polish-Ukrainian cultural ties”, as well as the exchange of researchers and students between both countries.

The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine appreciated the activity of Prof. Ławski for the development of Polish-Ukrainian scientific contacts.
