Researcher from the University of Gdańsk receives a grant for Map of the Tricity theater phenomena

22.10.2021

Dr Katarzyna Kręglewska from the Department of Drama, Theater and Performances at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Gdańsk received a grant from the Support Program for the Humanities of Gdańsk. The aim of her project is to examine the ways in which theater has operated in the Tri-City during the last thirty-two years.

The research conducted by Dr Kręglewska (and, consequently, the proposed monograph) aims to outline a map that includes the widest possible panorama of phenomena and to devote special attention to selected most representative and valuable activities. The research area covers the functioning of the theaters in the years 1989-2021 – from the political transformation, to the pandemic and the death of Prof.  Jerzy Limon, the founder of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater.

The Gdańsk Humanities Support Program is implemented as part of the Research University Excellence Initiative and is aimed at academic teachers of the University of Gdańsk who conduct research in humanities.
