The Mieczysław Mąkosza Foundation for the Support of Young Scientists has awarded the Prof. Mieczysław Mąkosza Scientific Award to Dr Artur Kasprzak from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology.

The researcher specialises in organic, supramolecular and materials chemistry. He is particularly interested in developing environmentally friendly methods of conducting organic syntheses without the use of toxic solvents. He is the author of many new compounds and materials for environmental monitoring.

The Prof. Mieczysław Mąkosza Scientific Prize is awarded annually for original, independent research papers in the field of organic chemistry, published by young scientists.  His latest discovery is a magnetic material containing sumanene, with which caesium can be removed from the environment.

This year marks the eighth time the prize has been awarded.
