Researcher from the West Pomeranian University of Technology becomes a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science

Dr Daria Ciecholewska-Juśko, employed as an assistant in the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology at the West Pomeranian University of Technology, is one of a hundred young researchers who will receive scholarships in this year’s #START programme of the Foundation for Polish Science. 

The distinguished scientific output of the Szczecin university’s researcher included, among other things, work related to obtaining bionanocellulosic materials and using them as carriers for antimicrobial substances to fight pathogenic bacteria in the form of biofilm.

Dr Ciecholewska-Juśko is also involved in work on the effects of rotating magnetic fields on microbial cells. The annual scholarship to be awarded to the laureate is PLN 30 000. The START scholarship was awarded for the 31st time; the budget of the programme amounted to over PLN 3 million this year.
