Researcher of the Maria Curie Skłodowska University wins Grand Prix of the International Print Triennial

13.07.2018

Karol Pomykała, assistant at the Department of Convex Print at the Faculty of Arts of the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin, received the Grand Prix of the International Print Triennial 2018 in Krakow for the work “One Direction”.

Thanks to VR glasses, the viewer moves completely into the middle of the crowd, disappearing in it and becoming part of the installation. This allows the recipient to feel almost tangibly overwhelmed and the helplessness of the individual. The installation is a combination of traditional graphics made in linocut technology with contemporary technology represented by virtual reality. It is a collision of the current with the virtual reality, the transfer of two-dimensional, analogue graphics to the three-dimensional world generated by computers. It aims to encourage the viewer to enter the created world and intensify their reception.
