Researcher of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń receives grant for modern bioprints

Dr Joanna Skopińska-Wiśniewska from the chemistry department of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń will implement the grant “MAT.URO 3D – new functional MATERIALS for 3D printing in the field of urological needs”. The researcher received funding from the National Center for Research and Development within the TECHMATSTRATEG competition.

The main goal of the project will be to develop new materials for use in the reconstruction of urethral defects in children and adults. Funding obtained for research is over PLN 8 million.

The project is implemented by an interdisciplinary consortium, which includes the University of Toruń, the Institute of Materials Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology; Department of Pediatric Surgery and Urology of the Pediatric Center in Łódź; a team from the materials engineering department of the Warsaw University of Technology; Foundation for Cardiac Surgery Development in Zabrze – Bioengineering Laboratory of the Institute of Heart Prostheses and Wolf3D company.
