Dr Jakub Szlachetko, Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk was appointed to the team of experts developing the update of the National Urban Policy. The team operates at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development.
The National Urban Policy is addressed to Polish cities and their functional areas. It is particularly attentive to the development of small and medium-sized towns. Its task is to indicate where and how it is possible to increase the effectiveness of public entities, and indirectly also private and social entities, in order to achieve the objectives of urban policy more efficiently. It proposes and postulates solutions, tools and instruments that can be used by cities.
Dr Szlachetko is a graduate of three fields of study (law, administration, spatial management), but he feels most of all a lawyer and “administrativist” (specialist in administrative law).
