Jagiellonian University to hold a scientific conference “Crimes – history, society, culture and media”

On February 13-14, 2021, the Facta Ficta Research Center, the Institute of Linguistics and Literature of the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce and the Department of Comparative Civilization Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow are organizing a nationwide scientific conference “Crimes – history, society, culture and media”.

The organizers of the event emphasize that, the crimes and their perpetrators are one of the most frequently represented topics that have appeared in culture from its very beginning. It also dominates today’s news and social media.

During the conference, the following issues will be discussed: contemporary media and social media against crime; crime as a sensation; criminal literature in Poland and in the world, criminal narratives, authors of crime stories; culture and crime (literature, film, series, video games, cartoons); history of crime: tyranny, genocide, war crimes; serial, multiple and mass murderers; crimes and religion.
