– “Dogons from a shorter distance” is a kind of anthology containing articles written by me in recent years (the oldest one is from 1987), which is the crowning achievement of a much longer acquaintance with the inhabitants of the Bandiagara massif and their culture. They are the result of my many years of wandering around the Dogon country, many long conversations or “participating observations”, simply – close contacts with the Dogons – says Dr Jacek Łapott, the author.
