Dr Eng. Katarzyna Krasowska, vice-dean for organization and development of the Faculty of Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, is a laureate of the competition for the Minister of Development Award for diploma theses, doctoral dissertations and publications in the fields of architecture and construction, spatial planning and development, and housing.
The competition jury appreciated her doctoral dissertation “Sustainable development of small towns in Western Pomerania after Poland’s accession to the European Union”. In her work, she was looking for a method that would allow for an ordered assessment of development changes taking place in the urban space, based on the example of selected small towns in Western Pomerania.
The researcher from Szczecin designed a city monitoring model adapted to the possibility of obtaining data at the commune level. It is universal in nature, it can be a tool to support building a development strategy for small, medium and large cities.
