“The falling head of the formwork system” is the first patent-pending component of the formwork system that has been developed by Dr Mirosław Broniewicz, Prof Mirosław Broniewicz, of the Białystok University of Technology (PB) from the Department of Building Construction and Building Mechanics at the PB Faculty of Construction and Environmental Sciences, together with Filip Broniewicz, a PhD student at the PB Doctoral School.

“The invention significantly simplifies the method of making the formwork itself”, says Dr Mirosław Broniewicz, Professor of PB.

“Our idea for the formwork system allows the formwork to be made from the ceiling level. Workers do not have to climb to the top of the formwork to place the formwork panel beams, but everything is done from the ceiling level using special poles. This significantly reduces the cost of making the formwork system and increases its safety”, stresses Prof Broniewicz.

Before the application was submitted to the Polish Patent Office, scientists from PB carried out static and strength calculations and performed experimental tests on the prepared prototypes in the research hall. After the good results of the experimental tests, the inventors decided to make elements of this system and apply them on a real construction site.
