Every year in Poland, more than 2 million tonnes of apples are processed into concentrate. Around 70 % of the water from these fruits is wasted because, being devoid of minerals, it is not fit for consumption. The Wroclaw-based company Organic Water has developed a solution to produce healthy and tasty water from it, and scientists from the Wroclaw University of Technology will help improve it.

“Our company has developed a technology for processing and mineralising water, resulting in pure water with a slight smell and aftertaste of the fruit from which it was produced. We can say that this is the world’s first water made from fruit, created in connection with the production of concentrated fruit juices”, says Piotr Łyczko, president of Organic Water.

In cooperation with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the company wants to improve the developed technology. Researchers will investigate the possibilities of reducing energy consumption in the production process itself and will test the applicability of the new technology to other solutions.
